Njáls saga ch. 1 (Dasent): "dwelt a man named Hauskuld, who was Dalakoll's son, and his mother's name was Thorgerda. He had a brother named Hrut... he was of the same mother as Hauskuld, but his father's name was Heriolf." Laxdæla saga ch. 7-8 (Press): "Koll o' Dales...fell ill and died. Hoskuld, the son of Koll..." / "Thorgerd, Thorstein's daughter, the mother of Hoskuld" remarries "Herjolf"; their son is "Hrut". The two texts independently narrate the identical family structure (father Dala-Koll/Koll o' Dales, mother Thorgerda/Thorgerd Thorstein's daughter, half-brother Hrut son of Heriolf/Herjolf) under matching names -- not a coincidence of a shared given name.
Caveat: Njáls saga's own chapter 1 gives Hauskuld a wife also named Thorgerda Thorstein's daughter (njala:thorgerda-thorsteinsdottir, mother of Hallgerda) -- a DIFFERENT relationship (wife, not mother) than Laxdæla's Thorgerd (Hoskuld's mother). This is either two distinct Thorgerda-Thorstein's-daughters, or a minor genealogical inconsistency between the two sagas' accounts of the same family; SagaGraph does not resolve it and does NOT link njala:thorgerda-thorsteinsdottir to laxdaela:thorgerd on this evidence alone.
